Filter Question

So I decided my first tank will be a 75g FOWLR and am deciding about filters. Everything I have read says that I don't need a canister filter as the LR will perform most of the filtering naturally. So do I just need a sump with a skimmer or is there anything else I should consider?

Added water volume is always a good thing as far as the sump. All the filtration needed is Plenty of LR and a skimmer (in sump or HOB). Also some PH`s to move the water around.
