Filters

Hello again

Do I need a filter in my tank to cycle it. It's 190 litres and I have a wave maker a protein skimmer and 27 kg of live rock and 5 kg of live sand. Some people have said I do some have said not.

Thanks

You don't need a filter, your live rock is your filter and will be home to the beneficial bacteria.

I did have one but last night it sprung a leak. I might put it back on when I've fixed it. I read that they are more hassle than they are worth because they can produce nitrites and have to be cleaned every couple of days

Yeah you don't need a filter I'd invest in a skimmer though personally
