Filthy water line on the top

Another question....this week I notice a filthy (dust????) on the top of my water line (surface). Is that normal??? The rest looks ok, clear and normal but this thin layer is been building up on top. Am I doing anything wrong?

What kind of equptment are you running? That filithy layer is more than likly just scum, a protein skimmer and power heads should take care of it.

Its a RedSeaMax with a protein skimmer....

Yes it`s a protien sheen. Get a PH and have it pointed slightly to the surface and it will break it up. Your skimmer should take care of it eventually. Also if you had a sump your HOB overflow would take care of it.
