First tank , after some advice on a aqua one marisys 240 filter

Hey , first sw tank and just after some advice and tips on the aqua one marisys 240 , I've recently purchased it hasn't received it yet but yea , I know there has been some bad feedback in them but there is also some good ones , anyone have any tips on any mods there are for them and what media should I replace In it? I also heard the skimmer isn't very good but you can upgrade them? Thanx guys and gals
