Silly question here guys... Can fish choke? I could have sworn my wrasse was choking on a chunk of brine/squid. He banged his head/mouth area against the rock a for a few minutes... Slowly trying to swallow it. It worked lol. I'm curious and didn't want to google. Be easy friends.

Years ago I came home from a weekend away to find my fw moray laid out straight as an arrow, pale white with the tail end of an albino Cory hanging out of his mouth, also more recently I lost an engineer goby to a small snail shell wedged in the back of his throat, so I'd say that yes fish can indeed choke

Ah sorry about that. Thanks for the reply. I was intentionally giving my wrasse a slightly larger piece of brine to keep him entertained while my clown and goby ate their fair share. My wrasse is a beast during feeding time.

I've always wondered this too, since choking is essentially obstruction of air flow to the lungs.
