Would a foam brush that is generally used for painting be alright to clean algae off glass with or would it be to soft?

well, for the glass i use a run of the mill razor blade. it works perfectly. you just have to rinse it in fresh water after because the salt eats any metal up with a quickness.

I use a gift card for quick clean ups it doesn't work as good as a razor blade but it works good enough for quick once a week scraping.
