fresh to salt

If I am converting a 33 gallon freshwater tank to a salt water tank can I use the same water?
Should I start fresh with clean a clean dsb and water or can I just change the freshwater to saltwater by adding salt? What would be more beneficial? Will using the old freshwater help shorten the cycle time?

I would empty the tank and clean it all out with vinegar, or whatever they recomend.
