Freshwater filter on saltwater tank

I was wondering if I can throw an already cycled filter from a freshwater tank onto a new saltwater tank and be good to go?

If you mean skip the cycle process then no. The freshwater bacteria will die in the saltwater. If you mean can you run a HOB filter on a sw tank then yes you can. Just cycle it like any other tank.
