never made it to petco, i did however use google sketch up to kinda get a look at the layout of the sump. i like it but it made me look at skimmers. i looked at the sc150 and the octopus nw150 and then i said to myself "self, im loosing so much area by putting a skimmer in the sump." then i remembered they made back pack skimmers. so i started looking at them on auqacave.
if i where to utilize a hob
skimmer i could use almost all of the available area of the 40g breeder for a refugium. minus the tiny part for the return pump.
so now im asking for more advice.
what is a good amount of flow through a refugium? what is too much? what is not enough? i can adj my pump and overflow selection accordingly.
has anyone had any experience with octopus hob
skimmers? ive got a couple picked out.

if i go this route i can afford a bit more money to go to the skimmer because once i get it, it can go straight to work vs waiting for the fuge components (in sump skimmer, return pump, overflow box, and plumbing) to be purchased when i can.
