From fresh to saltwater..cycle or no..

Can I just add the proper amount of instant ocean to my freshwater tank and have a ready made saltwater tank (fish only) or will it have to do the cycle thang with the salt water?

Would give the freshwater fish away first

You need to clean that tank. 8O . Then add the proper mixed salt water to you tank. Yes you will have to cycle. The bacteria that lives in fw can't survive in sw. Sorry.

Plus depending on your substrate it might not be the most desirable substrate for saltwater.
