Think I have read 3-5 watts per gallon, depending on climate. Also, I think most would recommend 2 Heaters in case of one breaking/failing. As for lighting, the wattage is not only thing that you are looking for. Lights will be rated at a certain temperature (rated in Kelvins or K).
