I have a SW tank that I've been planning on making into a reef since I started it. I'll probably be starting to add corals within a year so I wanted to get started on my research. I've tried looking around for articles to help get me started but everything out there that I've found is still over my head.

I see a lot of "it depends completely on what type of corals you want to have."

Can anyone point me to articles that would help me get a basic understanding on how to care for corals before I go looking into specific types? Thanks.

I just didnt have any books or articles. If you want experience or advice I can jump right on in there but I didnt have what you asked for.

Look for good starter corals if you're unfamiliar. Generally zoas, mushrooms, leathers ( soft corals) require less light, flow and care ( although tank shoudl be kept as good as possible anyhow). Just look online for corals your interested and doa bit of research before you buy.
