I can't seem to get rid of hair algae, I don't believe in adding chemicals into my tank. My phosphate and nitrate levels are extremely low. I have a Fox face and snails along with plenty of crabs but just can't get rid of it. Any ideas? I have heard of the Vodka treatment but I am very skeptical.

Are you using RO/DI water, I had algae until I added a DI filter. Also test strips are notoriously inaccurate.

Phosphates need to be at zero. What is your "low" BTW?
I'm using an ASI marine reef test kit, and I have been using r/o water for about two months now. Doing a twenty to thirty percent water change every two weeks. It's only a 46 gallon tank with no sump I don't have room underneath. 1 charcoal over the side filter and another filter turned into a live rook filter for more media filtration.
