HELP! Cycling new tank

I have read the article on cycling without fish. Is it not just as good to cycle with live rock since it will have debris on it to start the bacteria? Also how often and how much should my water changes be during the cycle process? Tank is 550 gallon.

Cycling with LR will take forever, throw some shirmp in with it.

Dont change your water but once.
