Help.newbie with protien skimmer problems

Ive just setup up my first marine tank!!! yay!!! im not 100 percent if my protein skimmer is setup right. Should the bubbles be coming right to the top??? any help would be much appreciated!!

i would adjust it so the bubbles just make the skinny neck part. i hope you don't have a big tank! they did away with the air stone skimmers because the stones didn't last very long. now they have venturi skimmers with needle wheels that are quite efficient.

its a shame the stones clog up too, in my opinion nothing beats the airstones as far as bubble volume and bubble size

Thanks for the advise. I only really bought this because it was cheap. As it was my marine tank i kinda took what the petshop said to buy. But im learning a real lot quick from sites like these. And we all gotta start somewhere!
