hi all i was wondering if there is anything i can do to reduce nitrates in my tank.. iv herd a few things something about a deep sand bed or some types of algea.. can anyone explaine these ideas to me and if they work or not or anything els i can do apart from water change to keep nitrats at 0 thanks for any help

Why can't you change the water or get macro?

Having a sand bed that is 4" or more will definitely help, but you would need a lot of critters that move the sand around, and it would take some time before the bacteria begun to colonize the sand and reduce nitrates.
