Help with marisys 240

Have a marisys 240 and it is skimming but not collecting waste in cup it just seems to sit on top on water in skimmer ...... It's like the water level isn't high enough

It might not be high enough. Is it at the reccomended level? Also is it.new because skimmers have a break in period. Lastly is it adjustable cause it could need a little fine tuning?

My skimmer sits a little low so I put some of my tubing under the edge of it to raise it up (the thick kind you use to siphon stuff out). That way if it were to fall in it can't clog anything or harm my fish.

It I a new tank .. All I have in there is live rock ATM as all my live stock ate in old tank as I am just waiting to swap it all over
