They have pictures on there site and on the auctions. It is comparable in texture etc. to liverocks.com keys rock. Most people recommend 1.25 to 1.75 lbs of live rock per gallon My base rock was purple in around 4 months from the keys rock seeding the coralline

I’ve always wondered about excessive weight ie: ½ ton of rocks sitting on a couple of PVC. Personally I think the PVC would be fine for 55 gal and under but in your case I can understand not wanting that kind of pressure focused!

Out of curiosity how thick is the acrylic on your 525 gal?

Wish you had some photo’s of that tank

My local fish shop has something it calls "lace rock" that is $1.50/Lb. I have heard of people using it in SW and I could pick out the pieces. It has a different look than the Hirocks stuff. I don't know about it's ability to become "alive" like the Hirocks can. R

Anything can "come alive" the benefit is if it is porous, which means more surface area for the bacteria etc. second benefit to hirocks and other base rock sellers is ther rock is calcium carbonate. It is a natural buffer to help maintain PH in your system.

I got something like 80 lbs from them and was completely satisfied. You just cannot beat that price. The rocks were kind of big but were relatively porous.
