how often should i do water changes?

this might be a stupid question but i always get a lot of different answers. i have a 33 gal reef thats been setup for about 4 months. how often should i be doing water changes?

With a 33gal reef I would do a 5gal change every 2-3 weeks, but thats just me.

It really depends on the water parameters. If you are prone to high nitates then once every week or two do a 10% change. If you have a reef tank it does not hurt to do small changes more often. I rely on my water changes to replenish all of the trace elements thta my reef needs because I do not add reef additives. I do 10 gals. every other week. That is a little over 10 of my circulating water.
