so i was in Petco yesterday and wanted to buy some live rocks from them. i noticed some clear worms on the fiji rocks everywhere but the sales person told me those are the excrement of some of the species in the tank or filaments of algae, which i found hard to believe because these clear strings of "things" are moving ON THEIR OWN. they shrunk back into the crevices on the live rock when disturbed. I tried to do a quick search on hitchhikers on the forum before posting the thread but was unsuccessful at it. The pictures are not of great quality but i hope it's sufficient. i'm new to SW and would like to know more about everything

Don't know about the clear thin worm, but the orange spiked worm looks like a bristle worm.

yeah i'm aware of the bristle worm in the pic. from my readings, the clear worms don't look like spaghetti worms because the ones in the pictures don't have tentacles that the spaghetti worms are known for. i could be wrong though.

it's just absurd that i told the saltwater "specialist" that these are some sort of worms and all she said is that they're not worms but the filaments from the rocks or whatever.

I wouldn't pay much attention to the saltwater "expert" in the future, that is not excrement. lol Like Mr x stated, spinoid worms, perfectly harmless I might add. :)
