Is a UV sterilizer worth the money?

I have a 75 gallon with a 20 gallon sump/refugium and I am wondering, is a UV sterilizer worth the money?
I definitely do not want my fish dying, so if it is worth it, how many watts would be best for my size of a tank and sump?

I bought one when I had a bacteria outbreak. It cleared it in two days and I was sold. Water has been Crystal clear ever since.

I think its only needed for diseased tanks. For healthy tanks, its not needed IMO.
If you want one, then go by the manufacturer's recommendation for your total volume.

Okay, an I kinda wanna buy one when I have the money and when I can find a good deal on Craigslist rather than when I have an outbreak and need one but can't find or don't have money, would the UV light hurt my chaeto?
