Is it a Chromis of some sort?

My brother was moving and, since he didn't have but three fish in his tank at the time, he just gave them to me instead of trying to move them. Two were common damsels, a yellow tail and a blue. The third, though I have looked at every photo in the 3rd edition of Dr. Burgess's Atlas, I can't find a match. I think, based on it's body shape, it's a chromis of some variety, but it doesn't really match anything in the atlas. It's body is a blue-gray. It has a yellow streak down it's back and it's pectoral fins are deep blue or black. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Looks like a green chromis to me, however, I can't be sure, it does look like the Damsel family though...

It's big for a damsel. I know the photo doesn't show it, but it's about 3" long.

Green Chromis can reach a length of 3 to 6 inches in the wild...I have seen them in an aquarium 3.5 to 4...They lose the blue in them when they get that large.. Remember they are reef fish and school... Are there more of them in the tank? If you look in my photo gallery, you will see a green chromis at about 2 inches...Does this look like it?

Unknown Chromis ???

No, he/she is not like the "green meanie". This one has yellow along his back and his pectoral fins are dark blue, amost black with a stripe of light blue. His body is a blue-gray. Let me try a different photo. I finall got him to pose. Also notice that the tail is different, not nearly as forked.

Ok, now I see it...

Neoglyphidodon Melas

Common Name: Yellow Backed Damselfish

Closest match I could make on it... They are from the rance of Indo-Pacific, Red Sea.
