Is it normal for coco tube worm to discard its feather?

As in the question, is it normal?
My coco tube worm has white feather. This morning, I saw one side of its feather being discarded on the sand. The other side still perfectly normal, in and out of the tube.

No, tube worms only drop their crown when they are under stress, like rising ammonia levels. If you remove the source of the stress and the worm is otherwise healthy and had been well fed, it will regrow.
