hello there, i was testing my saltwater tanks water today after starting a cycle about 2 weeks ago.

my water tested at a ph of 8.2 , ammonia 0.25 ppm , nitrite 0ppm, nitrate 0ppm, and salinity of 1.028.

i personally think that the water is not ready but i thought i'd ask to get other peoples opinions.

the fish that i am planning on getting for the tank are 2 clownfish.

thanks :)

hello.....
im not sure about this...but as long as u have ammonia,i believe its stil in cycle...this is what bro thincat told me....sory if im wrong.....

Did you nitrite ever go up? In a typical cycle, after the ammonia peaks and starts to come down, the nitrites go up and then come down. Your water isn't ready yet.

Read our articles section on cycling a SW tank so you'll know more about what you've been thru and what should be coming.

If you have any ammonia the answer is NO.
What did you do to start your cycle?
And as Ray asked, did you ever see the spike/drop for ammonia and nitrite?

If not, then step one is to START the cycle process on your tank.
