Here is a diagram. The thick black line is the water level, the rede dot is the anti-siphon hole.

Understand that the water will back siphon when the pump is shut off to the hole. When the water level reaches the hole, it will suck air and break the siphon, so don't make it too low in the water. I make mine, just below the surface of the water.
