is this ph ok ?

I just started my 20 gallon tank. I checked the ph level and it is 8.0. That's ok for my fresh water tank but should it be higher for salt and if it should, what can I do to help

It's little bit low but fish should be ok. Well had lfs test everything last week and think my alk was low and my ph was at about 8.0, said if alk is low than ph will drop and told me u dose alk and will bring ph up to around 8.3
