The tank has been set up for about a week or two now. Ive been putting in pellets to start the cycle but haven't had a spike but I do have brown algae growing on my live rock. Any advice?

Im not sure in using test strips and I know they aren't accurate and no the live rock wasn't established but I did add two pieces of live rock I got from lfs I had sitting in a qt for a week or so. But I don't know why I have brown algae. Maybe my marineland db is too bright? That's the only place the algae is growing in patches where the light penetrates.

I added two thawed shrimp they are sitting my finnex hob refugium. How long should they stay in there?

If you put them in your fish net and put that in the main tank , you will be able to easily remove them later. I leave mine in until the cycle is pretty much done. I think some others pull them out earlier.

Tank cycling for two weeks now have brown algae growing and little white bugs(copepods?) on the glass all over. Is the cycle done or close to being done?
