does anyone know how you would grow your own live rock just wondering how its done

You can get baserock and seed it by putting it in a tank with live rock, or you could get a bunch of baserock and dump it in the ocean for a while.

The later would require proper permits and aquaculture leases from the state governments.

You can make your own base rock with plaster o paris and argonite or crushed shells. Any base rock added to an established tank will 'become' live over time.
