A few hours ago I went to my lfs and bought 25 pounds of premium Fiji live rock, RO DI premixed saltwater and some live sand. It's startin to clear up a little bit so I tested the salinity. I used an instant ocean hydrometer and the needle is against the stopper at the top!! It's a brand new hydrometer. Is that why? There were no bubbles or anything on the needle.

Let it sit with the saltwater in it for 24 hours and try again. It needs to break in the needle. I thought I had jacked mine up doing the same thing, then remembered patience.

Well. I have the same hydrometer and I never had to break it in. It is recommended to so though. Could always have your LFS test your water. Also before checking you are suppose to let the salt settle did you test right after putting salt in?

The light comes in this week
