I haven't used those products in so long, I can't give a recomendation. From the manufacturers websites, it would appear that Amquel and ammolock (the AP version put in AP products) are both effective.

Picked up some AmQuel Plus. I will add and test in a few hours.

Ammolock will remove the ammonia, but it will also remove _all_ the ammonia in the tank. This can stall the cycle, and over time can kill the bacteria that eat the ammonia and leave you vulnerable for ammonia spikes. I recommend using Prime, which converts the ammonia to something less toxic, but still in a form that the bacteria can feed on.

Amquel Plus is not a good product to use in a cycling tank. It will cause the cycle to stall. You may want to purchase Prime. It is highly concentrated and lasts a long time.
