kent tech1 tests kits

does anyone use kent tech1 and if so what test kits are ya using?? had my water tested by the lfs and it showed 0 iodine but know that there are some test kits that cant read this product !! and also know that i have to have enough iodine due to normal molts !! and after givin a kent marine catalog and reading that tech1 and ozone can be a prob i went and bought lugol's ! i havent seen or noticed any probs with the tech1 but with out being able to test makes me worry a bit !! what are most of people here using for iodine?? just curious

I dont and wont dose Iodine.. I figure that if you are doing water Changes on a regular basis you wont need to dose Iodine.. Iodine is very toxic if there is too much.. I would just cange your water every 1-2 weeks and your iodine levels should stay in check..

All the iodine requirements of your critters can be met through regular water changes and regular feeding

ive been changing 5 gallons a day for the past week along with my weekly tech1 dosing why would the test not show anything then ??

also reefrunner would you say that a dkh of 3.5 is way way to low ?? what my tank is at
i read that 3.4 is natural sea water but for a tank to be a 6???

If it's DKH and it's 3.5, yes that is way low. If it's Meq/L it's OK depending on your CA level.

Most commerial iodine kits are unreliable at best, also iodine is reported to be removed from the water very easily, but it isn't necessary in large amounts, if your changing that much water, you critters are getting plenty of iodine.

yea its in meg/l and ca is @ 390
which i thought i might of been adding to much kalk i add 1 1/2 tsp into 1 gallon of water and add two gallons of this mix every other day but now that i have the di unit i can test my self but lfs gave those readings
