I am interested in converting my 90gallon fowlr tank into potentially a reef tank. I have been shopping around and have become thoroughly confused.

Would 260watts of PL lighting work?
What about 216watts on a quad ho T5s?
What about LEDs, i saw one that is 3300 lumens (46 daylights and 8 actintic)?

Thanks in advance for your advice!

Taotronics LEDs work great!!! Have them on my 180g reef... As u can see, I have clams, lps, sps, nem's, etc...

Looks great. I guess what i an really trying to figure out is how much is enough for my tank. How many Watts of ho t5s, how many Watts of pl's, or of leds?

When I had a 90g, I had a 6 t5 fixture. It was like $1000... LEDs woulda been 300... You only need two. You can get all ur heart desires with that lighting. And with LEDs... Never change the bulbs...

Look at this on eBay:

LED's are great and i have just changed over to them.

I was very confused with this subject and also worried about the potential cost.

IMO get the best you can afford.

I've gone for Aquabeam 1000HD's without the controller. Its so annoying having them on a timer lol. Hopefully Santa (the wife) will get me the controller for xmas :)

Looks good. Guess the 4 HO T5s aren't going to be enough. How much is the controller?

I went with the kessil LED's and I love them! I just bought them a few months back. There are a ton of great LED lights out there. The Taotronics are supposed to be awesome for the money and I've also heard they work great. My issue was that I needed something easy to mount to this tank. I'm planning on trying them on my other tank though in a few months.

Hey! I've heard good things about these! How deep is your tank? I'm curious as to how deep of water they will penetrate.
