Listed Fish Sizes

Although I'll probably purchase most of my fish from the LFS, I do browse the online stores. In looking through the offerings of the online stores, I see that they list the sizes of the fish you can purchase. I had been assuming that these sizes were measured from lip to the end of the tail, but saw a 3/4" offering of a fish that was supposed to grow to 5-6", which made me wonder if my assumption was correct. Is it? Or, do they measure from lip to the base of the tail?

Thanks in advance.

I would imagine most measure overal length from lip to tail. could it be the 3/4" was intended to read "three to four inches" rather than "three quarters of an inch"?

That would make sense.... that's probably it, otherwise, that fish is probably a week or 2 old.
