Live Rock

I have recently purchased some live rock but am yet to pick to up. I was wondering if it is better to wait until i get my tank set up with the water then pick it up and add it when i put the water it the tank or can i add the rock now and do the water later?

if it's live rock, you don't want to let it dry out, you'll lose whatever life is already on it if you do that.
