BUSTED !

Still working on the overall set up - I've spent most of the night researching the pieces I'm going to be putting into the tank, as well as, how much of everything.

Yeah, you're right, it's in the budget (did I have one?) since I'm dropping another $800 on LED's next month in addition to the $969 I bought (at the pre-sale price)

So far I'm going with:

Marinelane 120g pre-drilled corner overflow with matched Oak (to the rest of our furniture in the house) wood stand and split canopy with included sump (no idea about the setup of the sump)
Pool Filter Sand mixed with Live sand ~ 4 inches
50 lbs of Live Rock
100 lbs of Base Rock
2 Koralia 3 powerheads
1 Pacific Sun "Black Paython" 120W LED BT EX - Master Unit
1 Pacific Sun "Black Paython" 120W LED BT EX - Slave Unit

To Be Determined:
Heater (most likely in-line)
UV Filter
Skimmer

Any help with what other equipment I'm gonna need would be appreciated... as soon as I start the actual setup I'll start with an official "Setup thread" with lots of pictures (lookout 56k users - if there are any left out there)

Isn't pool filter sand "silica based sand"?

jbadd, I would not use that pool sand in your reef setup. you will be in for lots of algae problems down the road.
