I'm a newbie at saltwater and I'm doing research to start up my tank. Can you mix regular sand with live sand? If so what's the best method?

You can do it but I really have my doubts if the so called bags of live sand are really live. I would really just do the regular sand and it will become live over time. Most LFS will give you a cup of LS from one of their tanks to seed yours with.

I bought live sand and it was deffinately alive. It was a bag of very fine sand in water and it was loaded with pods. I mixed it with normal sand and no issues lots of people do it. Just remember you don't rinse live sand it goes straight into the tank.

I don't have the bag anymore sorry, it was from big Als if that helps. I think it was a 20lb bag and the sand was very fine and silty with water in the bag. After I added it there pods every where on my glass.
