I have the option of buying either one, im just starting the tank, so ive heard LS will die anyways because of the lack of cycling.

Also which is the best sand to use

1. Nature's Ocean Bio-Activ Live Aragonite Reef Substrate?
2. Or that very fine white sand?

What is the best salt warter mix to use?

Thanks for the help.

I would go with just dead sand as it will become live as your tank cycles and it is cheaper. As far as brands I can't say as I am not familiar. I use Instant Ocean and like the results. HTH.

Ur LS doesn't die 0.o The bacteria on the LS actually help speed up ur cycle time. If u don't want to spend too much on ur LS, just buy half LS and half regular reef sand. Put the LS on top of the regular sand to "seed" the regular sand with bacteria. HTH

I will go with the LS then, Its a bit of a brownish color, they also have this very white looking sand, but it seems too fine and powerdy. + wont the white sand show food, alge, and poo more.

is this the LS in the bag?? IMO its not worth the money.. How can good bacteria live long term sitting on a shelf in a plastic bag?
