For the past few months I have been thinking about getting into saltwater. I currently have a 29 and a 10 gallon, which are both freshwater. I'm just looking for some good 'getting started' articles and advice. I know that doing my homework is key but the info online is so contradicting, so I'm here to ask the real experts:D. I kind of have an idea on tank size 10-15 gallons only. I'm fully committed to this and willing to take my time. Thanks.

Thank you, this section is very informative. But I guess what I'm looking for is what kind of equipment will I need other than the obvious. I'm more interested in a shrimp/invert type setup. .

Hi tetra, excuse me if i miss some stuff but i'll try...

Nano powerhead(s)
Sand (i prefer argonite)
Base rock 10-14 lbs
Live rock 3-5 lbs
Eheim heater (reliable imo)
AC50 hob
Refractometer
Api test kit (hint, the fw kit also works for sw:))
Mag float

If you want a reef:
2-4 bulb T5HO setup.. Fishneedit.com
Timers
Mag, calcium, alk test kits

If u want to make your own water:
Salt mix
5 g bucket
Small powerhead
Small heater
Ro/di unit (or buy rodi from lfs)

Like i said..i had to have missed somthing but hopefully this helps. Any other questions, feel free to PM me anytime or ask here.

Your good. Like I said earlier, I'm just thinking about it. I still need to do a TON of homework on it.
