Got a quote from the lfs on a Vision (maybe Visio) glass tank, 120 gal, with custom bulkheads drilled (I guessed at 5) for $310, tax included.

Two questions:
1. Does anyone have comments on the Vision (Visio) brand tanks?
2. Anybody have plans, link, suggestions on how to layout the closed loop circulation system? Pump size?

Thanks all.

Yes, I've seen that one. That's what got me thinking of a closed loop. Sounds like a very clean setup. Since I have the opprotunity to get a new tank drilled, I think I will.

Thanks RMPD!

What other sources of water movement are you going to have? Are you going to use the SCWD? What head height is it?

What's a SCWD? Head should be about 36"-42" but with multiple outlets. I'm thinking three across the top and two in the bottom corners to relive dead spots. Is that too many holes? I'm concerned about leak risk also.

Ideally, I have seven holes.
1 Bottom pickup into sump (over the top, u-tube return)
1 Mid level pickup into closed loop pump
5 returns from closed loop pump.

Suggestions?

Other water movement? None, other than the sump return. that's why I'm working on the closed loop concept.

Is a PVC "cross bar" sound good. A bar drilled with several holes spanning the tank width. Anybody done that?

I have done that. Provided it's not the only source of flow, it works well. It's a nice supplement. I have a spray bar along the bottom, on the sand in the back, and other outlets hiding in the rockwork to create flow currents.
