Started with a crushed argonite sandbed (approx 1.5" deep - grain sizes 1.5mm ) in my 90gal tank (brand new, still cycling) with 50lbs porous pacific LR about 4 weeks ago.

Friday I found a deal locally on some old castle/southdown sand and added 80lbs right ontop of the original substrate. I now have about a 4" to 5" bed.

Question is: Should I leave them separated, or stir them together? The fine/sugar sand is sitting ontop of the crushed argonite.

Thanks in advance.

I will be adding another 40lbs live Keys rock in a week or so.

The bigger sand should rise to the top naturally. You can mix them or leave them, it doesn't really matter for anything except for how you like it to look.
