thats great... you have a 10 gallon sump and a 7 gallon bowfront right? so it kinda balance out depending on how you had the returns and overflows set. Some of the ready made returns and overflows are so deep into the water that it takes a lot of water before it finally break. I think it all depends on the brand, how it is set up, and the user.

Ok, I took some pictures. I am think some kind of clamp that I can just hang it onto the back pane of the tank, I dont like turning off the pump just to get into the tank.

If there is a possiblitiy of you making this change, I think it would work. I know there is a pvc set up just like that on mine.

Barney, I dont understand what you mean? Mine is like that put blows around when the pump is on if i dont have it secured

let me see if i can find a way to get a picture of what i have and how it is set on my tank.... Sorry i wasn t clear with the diagram.

but my hose is snug from where it rest on the tank all the way to the pump, so not much room to move it around. I have to lift the pump a little bit to get it off if i need to, but lately i have not.
