So I read some place that if a mushroom does not open all the way it is a good indication that there is something wrong with your water. Is this true and what does it mean?

I've heard this as well but I've had mushrooms that didnt open one day and were fine the next with no water change or anything in between.

I bought it about three weeks ago and of was red and about two inches when I got it home and added it it has stayed blue and about one inch and wrinkle.

How do I know when I should dose my tank with essential elements? Just thinking I need some to get my mushroom to open
