one big question... i was talkin to my buddy the other day who got himseld a 30 gallon tank.. i think he thought he was going the easy way out.. and he used the beach sand from down here in miami and the ocean water to start his tank up... just wondering if this was ok for him to do or i should tell him to change the sand and water... like you guys prolly thought he didnt get the dry sand he got the sand which was in the waterrr...

The biggest danger is pollutants. That is why it is not wise to do what he has done.

also the florida coast is silica in many places, planted to replace beach erosion, which will caus problems in the future for him

I agree that he should not have done that due to pollutants. He could be sorry later on.
