I am looking to start my first 55gl salt water tank in a few months and I see all these posts about sump, protein skimmer…..what are these used for….I am also looking for input on what type of equipment is best and….how do you set it up…sorry for not knowing much…really nothing at all I just want to do things correctly and I really don’t know very much….thanks for every ones input and advice I really do appreciate it. :D

I have though worked with salt water fish but these tanks were 3600gl and 2900gl and two 500gl but I never worked with the actual equipment and I didn’t stay at that job for very long to learn anything. :?

Check out those two articles. They will do a much better job in a shorter amount of time of getting you up to speed. They are by no means comprehensive, but they are a good start. I would also suggest reading "The Consciensious Marine Aquarist." Its an excellent book for beginner and intermediate level reefers!

I am also working on getting two more articles on the site shortly that what to consider and how to set it up. They are both by the same guy that wrote the article on the first link.

thanks for the advice where can i find that book? and about what type of tank that is one of the questions i am not sure i would like to have fish and coral?? but i really dont know if that is possible?
