Yes I to started with a 29 gal used tank. Heck if it holds water and the price is right I see no reason not to. Mine is only about a month plus old now.

Mine is about 2 months now. And yeah, I agree about used tanks. I couldn't beat 200$ for a drilled 90 gallon with 30-40 gallon sump and all equipment needed and 100 lbs of live rock. I'm already watching criagslist like a hawk for another great deal- I'm addicted!

I have a 10 gallon QT for my 90 gallon, but I would recommend something bigger. 20+.

Yep, 20+ is a good size. In addition, the longer the tank the better, meaning if you are going to get a 20g, get a 20g long, as opposed to a high.

Well I finished the frame of my canopy today. Took forever. Lol. Tomorrow I will add the siding and begin the doors on the front and add the top which will also be on hinges for any big changes that need to be done. I will also finish the platform (only adding 4 inches of height to the current stand but I have made it extremely well supported). Big plans and only a few days left on vacation. My plan is to have everything done and be ready for moving the tank by Friday when I would do my PWC anyways. Let's hope I can keep on schedule!!! Lol

Here is the frame of the canopy...

Attachment 54007

It's upside down lol, but you can get the point.

Attachment 54008

There's a space in the back for chords and pipes. There will be double doors on each side of the front and then the top will have two doors as well. It's built put of 1x4 so it's not too heavy but it will still support my lights.
