I have a way to figure out if my sides are tempered. If they are not I am going to have a local hardware store drill them. I am also NOT getting the Aqueon ProFlex, but rather the Trigger Systems Crystal 36s Sump. I need to know what Protein Skimmer to get. This system is going in my bed room so I am looking to getting the quietest setup possible...
I'm gonna talk to a guy I know who is a glass specialist and see if he can tell me for sure if it is or not. Mine is not marked. In the meantime I am going to get it cleaned up really well and reseal the bottom just in case. Should I use regular silicone or aquarium sealant?? And what does everyone recommend in the skimmer dept.???
If it helps, my tank was made by O'Dell. I know their out of business and have been for a long time. But I've read that back in their hay day they were well built tanks. It's heavy, I know that.
The sealant must specify that it's aquarium safe. Hardware stores always have some. You just have to read the labels. It should be clear colored and not have any mold resistance. GE makes some. If in doubt just use aquarium sealant.
I was thinking of going with a reef octopus skimmer in sump. I just ordered the Trigger Systems Crystal 30s sump. Merry Christmas to me! So the next thing I will need is skimmer and then tank.
+1 on aqua C in sump skimmer...I have one as well just don't need it anymore had it on my 125 before downsizing and now it doesn't fit in my little sump but I sooooo loved it
