If they are very small, you'll need small food, like Cyclopeeze or flakes crushed into tiny pieces. If they're bigger, they'll like mysis, bloodworms, etc. it's good to rotate their food so they don't eat the same thing every day.

Sure you can do that. You can also add in some scallops, clams, fish pieces, mysis, whatever seafood you have. My fish like my homemade food.

I made my own food for my fish. I took about 4 ounces each of raw shrimp, scallops, clams, salmon, mysis, brine shrimp and squid. I took 2 sheets of green seaweed and 2 sheets of red seaweed, sliced it into small pieces and added some oil from a jar of minced garlic. I put it all into a bowl, added a couple tablespoons of marine flake food and used a hand blender to pulverize it into a thick paste. I put some into snack-sized zip lock bags and flattened it into thin sheets about 1/4" thick and put them into the freezer. After frozen I took out the mixture and used a knife to cut it into small 1/4 - 3/8" cubes. and put it back into a zip lock. The small pieces at the edges are used if I have something in quarantine so I dont overfeed it.

When I feed the fish they get both meat and vegetables.

Now, at feeding time, I take one cube and put it into a small container and place some water from the tank with it to thaw it out. I make sure there are no large pieces (I tear them into smaller bits if I find them) then use a mini turkey baster to feed the fish.

One thing to remember - this stuff STINKS so be prepared if you have people around that dont like the smell of fish.
