I would shut them off during the cycle. The nutrient levels are pretty high during the cycle, and all nuisance algae needs to grow is nutrient rich water, and light.

Thank you Mr X, however I am aware of that. I just turned them on for 15 seconds to take a photo. I'm just trying to keep people posted as my tank & cycle continues. But thanks!
