If you've had the skimmer for a while it should be broken in by now. Can you figure out where the bubbles are coming from? Meaning what the culprit is? There could be micro bubbles from different things.

Heres a link you may find useful for lighting nano tanks with LED lights.
My favorite and when I can afford it I would buy the Kessil
Looking for the best value LED lighting for nano aquariums, look here and check out the advantages
