New setup-any suggestions?

Hey, everyone. This is my first time writing. I've read quite a bit, but never actually created a user or replied to anyone. Here I go.

I've decided to get back into SW and I wanted to get some input. Below is a listing of equipment I've already purchased. Any recommendation/suggestions would be welcomed.

72 Gallon Box
Little Giant 4MDQX-SC
3 x Maxi Jet 900
PC w/ Moonlite 4x65w
Berlin Turbo Classic

I'll also be building a custom 40 gallon acrylic refuguim for filtration. I've got 60 pounds of live sand and probably need to buy another 40 pounds or so. My main questions would be:

1. Should I use tap water when I start fill the tank or RO, etc?
2. I'm going to go with buying some shrimp from the LGS, but when can I add LR to the tank or atleast the fuge?

Again, any suggestions would be appreciate. Thanks for reading.

Use the RO water to fill the tank. I'm guessing you'll order the LR online? If so, go ahead and put it in the tank and let the die off from the rock cycle the tank. You'll need about 100 lbs of LR minimum.
Save the shrimp for dinner .
If you intend to do a DSB, you'll want the sandbed to be at least 4" deep. Your equipment purchases up to this point sound pretty good to me.

Excellent. Thanks for the input.

I wasn't planning on order the LR online. I thinking of using Aquacultured LR. Any thoughts about that?

As for the 100 lbs min., was that to start that tank or the amount of LR I should have when the tank is complete?

Aquacultured is fine. It's a bit more dense than Fiji rock so you might want to bump the weight up to 125lbs or so. If you get the rock locally, and it has been in seawater all along...never drying out, you may not have enough die off to really see a cycle in the tank. You might try a small shrimp and see if you get any ammonia/nitrite readings. I started a 10g tank once with LR from the LFS and never saw any trace of ammonia or nitrite. I added a small clown to the tank and still never saw any traces. It's like the tank was precycled with the cured rock. If possible, I would put all the rock I was going to use in when I started the tank.

Update everyone. I just bought a RO/DI unit. So, I'll be setting the tank up with fresh water. No tap, etc....

Any other ideas?
